They are absolutely amazing to watch. The riders profiled on this page have inspired us all with their talent as trainers, coaches, competitors or keepers of the classical art.
So far I have included a few of my favourites, and will be adding more when time permits. If your favourite is not included here, then let us know about them on the guest book below!

Reiner Klimke is well known as one of the greatest competition riders of all time, winning two individual and four team gold medals, plus two more individual bronze medals at five Olympic Games from 1964 to 1988. He also won another fourteen gold medals at the European and World Championships.
He was also author of numerous world renowned books on dressage that are must-reads for all serious dressage fans!
Video of Reiner Klimke and Ahlerich in New York
This was filmed in 1987, and although international standards have changed over the last 20 years, this display still stands out as a superb example of the principles of classical dressage being put into place. You can see why this pair won six Olympic Gold Medals!
A dual gold medalist at the age of 21, no-one can deny that Nicole Uphoff is an extraordinarily talented rider!
She won individual and team gold at both the Seoul and Barcelona Olympics, for a total of four Olympic gold medals. Teamed up with her amazing horse Rembrandt, they were a sight to behold!
Video of Nicole Uphoff and Rembrandt
The quality of this video isn't great, but this pair still shine through as two of the all time greats of international dressage! And she was only 23 years old at the time!!
Rembrandt and Nicole Uphoff
A stunning ride by Nicole Uphoff on the incredible dressage icon, Rembrandt.
The film quality is quite poor. Let's just say this was a very much loved and often watched tape and it's just about worn out. Still, it's worth watching in my opinion.
This is for my dear friend, Frieda. Love ya, girl!
Who inspires you the most? There are more riders than time, but I hope to add at least some of the following riders listed to this page. Feel free to add any of your favourites that you feel I may have missed!

Olympic medallist Debbie McDonald and her fabulous partner, Brentina, have thrilled crowds the world over with their stunning performances. In her new book, Riding Through, Debbie describes her system for success in dressage and relates her life story: "There is more than one reason that I call this book Riding Through. Which dressage riders have I missed? Who is your favourite?

In my opinion, Andreas Helgstrand is THE rider to watch out for. Too bad Matine didn't (hasn't)recover well enough for the 2008 Games. This team would have most certainly won a medal.
The competitive spirit, dedication, athleticism, and grace of these riders is so inspiring. And so are YOU! Thank you for donating to Longhopes! The donkeys say thanks too.
